Sort It September – Free Estate Planning Advice for Over 60s

Older couple discussing estate planning paperwork at home, promoting Sort It September free estate planning advice for UK residents aged 60+.

For over 25 years, Sort It September has been a nationwide campaign giving working-class people in the UK access to free estate planning advice they wouldn’t normally be able to afford. Launched in 1998, Sort It September has become as widely recognised as Free Wills Month, offering homeowners aged 60+ a chance to protect everything they’ve worked their whole lives for.

Every September, estate planners across the country give up their time to provide free advice sessions that would normally cost around £280 per hour. These sessions are done by video call in the comfort of your own home and cover everything from:

  • 🏠 Protecting your home from care fees

  • 📜 Writing or updating your Will

  • 🛡️ Setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)

  • 💼 Understanding trusts and asset protection

Why Sort It September Matters

The reality is that care fees are one of the biggest threats to family homes. On average, homeowners pay £75,000 per year in care costs — fees that are not covered by the NHS. Without proper estate planning, many families face losing the very homes they worked hard to build.

why Sort It September is so important. It raises awareness, provides education, and ensures that older generations don’t leave it too late to put protection in place.

🛡️ Worried About Losing Your Home to Care Fees?
