Many of you subscribe to Later Living Helpline because you’ve seen how quickly care fees can overwhelm a family. What you may not see is the work happening behind the scenes — the volunteers who give their time, experience, and compassion to help others avoid the same struggles.
One of those volunteers is Jodie.
Jodie first came to us after her Aunt Betty lost her home due to rising care costs. Watching someone she loved go through that experience was a turning point. She didn’t want other families to face the same shock, confusion, and financial pressure without support. That’s what led her to volunteer with Later Living Helpline.
Behind the scenes, Jodie spends her time helping families understand care fees, explore their options, and avoid the pitfalls that caught her own family off guard. She’s calm, practical, and patient — the kind of person who will stay with someone until they truly understand what’s happening and what choices are available to them.
🛡️ Worried About Losing Your Home to Care Fees?
Many UK homeowners don’t realise their property can be used to pay for care fees. Get free advice before a crisis hits and protect what you’ve worked your whole life for.
Request Your Free Estate Planning ReviewOutside of volunteering, Jodie is simply herself. She loves her cats, enjoys travelling, and is always the person who comes back from a holiday with stories, photos, and the occasional souvenir for the team. She’s warm, grounded, and easy to talk to.
Having seen firsthand how care fees can place enormous strain on a household, Jodie also works independently as a UW Partner alongside her volunteering. Through this, she helps families reduce everyday household costs such as energy, broadband, and mobile bills, giving them a little more breathing room when life becomes difficult.
Some families dealing with care costs also look for ways to reduce everyday household expenses where possible.
As this is something Jodie helps people with independently through UW, we’ve included her information page below for anyone who wishes to explore it further in their own time.
There is no obligation, and Later Living Helpline does not provide financial or utility advice. We simply wanted to share an additional resource that some families may find useful.
Later Living Helpline remains fully independent. Jodie’s volunteering with us is entirely separate from her UW work. We simply wanted to introduce one of the caring people behind the scenes who genuinely wants to help families through difficult times.
If you would like to find out whether there are ways you may be able to protect yourself or your family from the impact of future care fees, you can also contact Jodie directly using the link below.
