Why We Offer Free Estate Planning Appointments

Every year in the UK, over 70,000 families lose their homes to cover care fees. It’s a heartbreaking and preventable situation that many only discover when it’s too late.

Most people don’t get the right advice because traditional estate planners can charge up to £280 per hour, making it unaffordable for many households to even ask questions.

At Later Living Helpline, we do things differently.

We’re a team of volunteers, most of whom have experienced the pain of watching a loved one lose their home to care costs. We give up our time to help others avoid the same outcome.

We have reached out to a number of estate planning professionals across the UK who have generously agreed to offer free appointments to raise awareness and provide genuine support.

These appointments are:

  • Free of charge – no consultation fee, and no obligation to act

  • Conducted via video call using a simple browser link (no downloads needed)

  • Typically 60 to 90 minutes long, so you can ask everything you need

While not everyone will be able to protect their home, depending on their age, health and the size of their estate, it’s always worth finding out. For many, proper planning can prevent unnecessary loss and give peace of mind.

What to Expect

During the appointment, an experienced estate planning specialist will:

  • Explain your options for wills, trusts, LPAs and care fee protection

  • Answer any questions about your current situation

  • Let you know if anything needs to be put in place (only if you want to)

It is not a sales call. You are not expected to buy anything, and you are under no pressure to take action.
